Dek hockey rules.

Before your first dekhockey game, check your league’s rules and the official documents.

The adult league

The adult league’s general rules, version 8 of 2026, apply to the men’s, women’s and coed leagues.

  • The rules call for 50-minute games, in three 12-minute periods, or 45-minute games, in three 11-minute periods, after a 3-minute warm-up. Clock stoppages are detailed in section 1.1.
  • There is no offside and no icing.
  • In the regular season, a tie goes to a 3-minute overtime played 3 on 3. If it’s still tied, each team sends one shooter, and the game can end in a tie. The 3-on-3 divisions have their own rules, in section 4.
  • Every player must have a Centrale Dek player rating, substitutes included. A new player with no rating fills out the “Nouveau joueur - Cote” (new player rating) form before playing.
  • In coed, at least two women must be on the rink, goalie excluded, except during the penalties covered in section 3. A goal scored by a woman counts double.
